KATHMANDU, JAN 13 - Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has stressed on the need of transcendental meditation to enhance creativity and internal peace.
Chand, who was speaking at the 97th birth anniversary program of Maharshi Mahesh Yogi, said that the practice of transcendental meditation, which was exclusively described in the 10th chapter of the Hindu scripture, Rigveda, encourages human beings to dedicate efforts for the greater benevolence of humanity and the nation as well.
The program was organized by the Nepal Maharshi Vedic Foundation at Sundarijal in the capital on Sunday. Foundation Chairman Deepak Prakash Banskota said the Veda is not merely a holy scripture of the Hindus but of entire humanity. He added that scholars from renowned Universities like Cambridge and Harvard are minutely studying and undertaking research on the scripture.
Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Sanskrit University, Prof Shiva Hari Marahaththa said that Mahesh Yogi, pioneer of transcendental meditation put his efforts to enlighten people through meditation. The self-knowledge received from the meditation is unique and powerful, said disciple of Mahesh Yogi, Atma Ram Maharshi.
On the occassion, the foundation felicitated Swami Dr Prapannacharya and Cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi for their contributions in development of religious and cultural sectors.
Maharshi Mahesh Yogi had brought to light the Transcendental Meditation in Europe and America after rigorously practising meditation with Shankaracharya Brahmananda Saraswati in Jyotirmath, India for over 13 years.
